The short version: SMAU runs entirely in your browser. There is no SMAU server, no account, and no analytics. We do not collect, store, or see anything you do on your phone.
Nothing. SMAU has no backend and no analytics or tracking. We do not use cookies for tracking, we do not run third-party trackers, and no usage data is sent anywhere. Diagnostic counters SMAU keeps while loading stay in memory on your device and are never transmitted.
If you choose to report a bug through the "Report" tile in Quick Settings, the report is sent to the developer's GitHub repository as a public issue. The report includes only what you write (title, description) and basic technical context: the build version, which app was open, screen size, and browser user-agent string. No personal data, no API keys, and no resident content are included. Bug reports are optional and only sent when you tap "Send report."
SMAU lets you connect your own AI provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others) using an API key you supply. When you do:
You can import story files (.smau) that other people made. A
story may reference images or links hosted elsewhere on the internet. If it
does, SMAU warns you before opening it, because loading someone else's URL
lets that server see your device's IP address and load its own content.
Anything loaded from another site is governed by that site's policies, not
ours. You can always cancel instead of opening.
The "Back up this phone" feature downloads your data to a file on your own device. That file is yours; SMAU never receives it. Your AI provider keys are deliberately left out of the backup file, so it's safe to store or email to yourself — you'll reconnect your keys after restoring.
SMAU is a fiction and role-play product and is not directed at children under 13. Please don't use it if you're under the age your local law sets for this kind of service.
If this policy changes, the effective date above will change with it.
